I Took CBD Oil For A Month and Haven't Looked Back

Anxiety, a lifetime partner of mine that I’ve had the misfortune of walking this road with. It’s something I refuse to let take over my life. When I talked to my doctor about it, I automatically received a white slip with a referral to a psychotherapist and the name of 3 prescription pills to research, and I did just that. I’m not anti-pills or anything, but while reading up on them, both the side effects of the drugs and how the chemicals in them alter your dopamine and serotonin levels seriously overwhelmed me. My family has a history of mental health issues, so I’ve seen both the ups and literal downs of prescription drugs used to treat mental health conditions.

I was in no way going to risk my body (both physically and mentally) becoming dependant on a chemical concoction of pills. I was, however, ready to find something more natural and holistic; perhaps because of how big the wellness scene has become. I can’t even deny that ‘wellness’ has completely taken over my inbox, relationships and life in general. Adaptogens this, ashwagandha that.

I’ve been gooped and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

C, B, and D are the three letters everyone is talking about. It might just put Pfizer out of business. As a recreational smoker, I’m not new to the cannabis plant in general, but the concept of taking just CBD and not having to smoke cannabis was foreign to me. For me, smoking weed is an at-home, when-the-sun-goes-down type of activity. Though I smoked my day’s stress and anxiety away in the evening, I was in need of something to help me start my day, without the high.

Enter: Kannaswiss. The luxe Swiss brand behind one of my favourite CBD oils.

Their products are beautifulllly packaged (joy for the Minimalists amongst us) and created from organic cannabis from the Swiss highlands, ecologically farmed, lab processed and purified, while adhering to the strictest safety and quality standards and utilising the latest in pharmaceutical science and equipment. So you know they’re absolutely safe, legal and compliant with EU regulations.

With moisturisers and any skincare products, whether or not you have an immediate reaction to the product, it’s best to test it for a month or so, or for a full skin cell cycle, which is on average 5-6 weeks. That way you can see how the product truly impacts your skin. I thought the same for CBD and decided to take 0.5ml per day of the Kannaswiss 24% Full Spectrum Organic Hemp Extract with MCT Oil for a month to test it out. With 2300mg of CBD per 10ml bottle, that’s 115mg per day (No Micro Dose Here); I wanted to see what this hemp extract could really do for me.

Unlike my relationship with vitamins, which is very hit or miss, I never forgot to take a few drops of CBD before I rushed out the door for work. I popped a few drops under my tongue, waited a minute for the goodness to soak into my blood stream and washed it back with a glass of lemon water. There’s a slight taste to it, but it’s not unpleasant at all.

The first few days, I didn’t really notice anything.

Until I noticed I was feeling like a normal and regular human.

I wasn’t as anxious as I usually am in the mornings, I was in a surprisingly good mood and super motivated. There’s nothing anyone could say to me which would throw my mood. That could’ve been a placebo effect, but by week 3, when my period came and my hormones were raging up and my menstrual cramps were at an all time high, the Kannaswiss oil also helped alleviate that pain and overall uncomfortable-ness. I didn’t have to curl up into a ball like I normally do because of my cramps. It’s a serious game changer! In fact, since first trying this oil, I haven’t stopped.

If you’re looking to test an oil out, start low and slow. Opt for the 6% oil in 10ml and go from there. At £30, it’s worth a try. If you’re wary about the taste and dropping it under your tongue, Kannaswiss offer a Water Soluble Full Hemp Extract solution that you can drop into a glass of water or a drink of your choice. Smoothies and salad dressings are also great to add your oil to.
